Tennessee is full of family friendly getaways that are great for parents and kids alike. One of my personal
favorites has breathtaking views, is home to an active downtown area, and is full of activities for people
of all ages. It has many unique stops and offers an array of neat places to have a bite- Let’s GO to
Chattanooga!!
An easy stop off the interstate, there are many hidden gems that will quickly fill an entire weekend. This
a great stop for couples too, but today will be focused on family and places to go with those sweet
kiddos.
Lodging Options:
Day One: Arrival and Sightseeing
Let’s get an early start! Chattanooga is a great weekend getaway and there are plenty of things to do. However, if you want to save a vacation day at work, you can certainly come at night and bypass the day time activities.
Have breakfast at Maple Street Biscuit Company
They are known for Biscuits that WOW, and let me tell you they look incredible, but you can’t go wrong with the waffles or pancakes
Next up: The Creative Discovery Museum
This is a perfect pit stop for the kiddos! The Creative Discovery Museum is a nationally ranked, two-story children's museum open from 10am to 5pm. What makes this spot so unique is the STEM exhibit, an art space and a farmhouse area where kids five and under can play! You pay to park in several lots downtown Chattanooga near the museum, but a free shuttle runs as well. If you are staying downtown, I would recommend taking the shuttle. Purchase your tickets here!

Children 2 and under: FREE!
Senior citizens $12.95

Tip on the LO: Don’t forget to order your ticket online! By purchasing ahead of time, you save time, the line and some money.
Late(ish)Lunch, Likely around 1:00 or 1:30: Puckett’s Restaurant
Located in the same area as the museum, Puckett's Restaurant is a great place to get a meat and veggies plate. The menu and restaurant are very kid friendly! I personally have never eaten a bad meal from Puckett's!
After lunch is a great time to to head back to the room for a quick rest with the kiddos. If you don’t need the nap time stop, carry on!
After lunch, head right on over to the Tennessee Aquarium
The Tennessee Aquarium is located on the banks of the Tennessee River. Enjoy viewing more than 12,000 animals with a gorgeous backdrop. Top off your visit at The Aquarium with a IMAX show that your young ones are sure to love! Purchase your tickets here!

You can find Ruby Sunshine in several of my favorite cities but my husband and I really love it! There is something for everyone on the menu because they have an array of breakfast items! Your kiddos are sure to enjoy the menu and atmosphere as well!
Tip on the Lo: Join the waitlist at Ruby Sunshine ahead of time so you can shorten the wait
Venture to See Rock City for some outdoor fun!
See Rock City is the coolest place in Chattanooga, I am sure of it! You can experience Fat Man’s Squeeze, take in the mountain views, catch the Needle’s Eye, walk across the Swing-A-Long bridge, experience the Gardens and so much more. If you visit between November and January, be sure to check out the Enchanted Garden of Lights. Purchase your tickets here!

Dinner at Edley’s Bar-B-Que
There is something to be said about a "walk up and order" style restaurant. Edley's Bar-B-Que is just that! Your whole family or group will enjoy the grub at this stop!
Day Three:
Breakfast at Aretha Frankenstein’s
Enjoy breakfast, brunch, or even lunch at Aretha Frankenstein's! Their waffles are known for being unbelievable!
Stop by Coolidge Park
Take a ride on the historic carousel, it’s over 100 years old.
Picture Pit Stop: Snap a picture at the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge, near the park, overlooking the beautiful TN River!
You should walk around, explore, and play before you head out on the road!
Flex Option
Remember you can add Day One's plans to Day Three if needed. If you'd like to stay a little longer on Sunday, I would recommend the Chattanooga Zoo!
