Valentine’s Day is upon us!! Can you even believe that!? I know it’s a “mixed review day” but personally, I love it. Something about Valentine’s Day gets me so excited! Maybe it’s all the pink and red hearts or the fancy dinner reservations on a random day of the week, but regardless, it’s a day I intentionally celebrate with my hubby. Valentine’s Day is on a Wednesday this year, but don’t let it stop you from doing something special. I believe in intentionally setting aside special time to do things that make you happy and feel the love!.
Let’s make these destinations love inspired.
Staycation
Music to my ears right now. A staycation, whether in your own home (but without your kiddos), in a hotel in your town, or a town nearby is the ultimate rest and relaxation tactic, made even better by one on one time with your spouse.
If you are staying in, attempt a game night with your partner. I recommend a game which encourages conversations or laughs.
Top recommendations: Guess Who, a 1,000 piece puzzle, 20 Questions, Scrabble, Yahtzee
If you want to go the hotel route, check out my favorite Tennessee area, resort style hotels. To make the most of your stay and weekend, check in Saturday afternoon, spend some time together overnight and check out Sunday, but feel free to extend it. Head to the spa, get drinks at the bar and order room service. When you head out the next day, grab brunch before your drive home.

A Couple’s Massage
A great way to connect with your partner while simultaneously relieving stress by resting in a quiet space.

Reverse Dinner
This may sound confusing by the name but a reserve dinner is pretty straightforward. You simply start your dining experience with dessert and coffee and end with appetizers and drinks. The entrée is still in the middle of the course but you get to start a little differently than you normally would have and you indulge in all dining courses.
Start with a dessert order! My favorite is peach cobbler a la mode or a brownie a la mode. If the restruant offers cheesecake, it’s a guaranteed choice for me. Get something and share it, one plate, two spoons!
Next order your entrée! Opt for a steak or some seafood to make the event special.
Now it’s time for a salad. Your salad choice can be its own course or you can order with your entrée.
Last but not least order an extra drink and appetizer! Get a cheese board or a shrimp cocktail.
Dine Hop
Along the same lines of reverse dinner, dine hopping keeps the evening a little more fun and spontaneous. Don’t make any plans past where you want to have a drink and see where the night takes you!

Family Date Night
Maybe childcare isn’t an option or you want to spend your special day with your kiddos too, one of my favorite memory making fun with my littles is allowing them to help with dinner. We make a meal that everyone loves and all pitch in in the kitchen. My family made dinner together last Valentine’s Day and the kids helped mix the potatoes and put the icing on the cookies. Make sure you dress up in something special, maybe even use special plates and light a candle! You could incorporate game night here as well or have a little movie watching while you eat the dessert.
Don’t stay in a rut this Valentine’s Day and don’t overlook it as a Hallmark holiday, there is room for fun! Spice up life a little & LIVE! I believe in taking every special occasion possible to make some memories. It gives you something to look forward to.
