Small Town Saturday: Fayetteville, TN

It’s another Saturday in the south! This month we are going to spend our Saturday shopping small! Let’s go to a quaint but bustling little town in middle Tennessee. The town square is a picturesque small town scene. I couldn’t picture a better way to spend a beautiful fall day than walking around and checking out all of the locally owned shops. Personally speaking, I love the Fayetteville square. It has so many stores and restaurants all jumbled together making for the best day of shopping. If you are into antiquing and finding vintage items, go no further than this funky, little town. There are more antique stores around the square than one can count.

Grab your girls, venture alone, or take a little date day and let’s go to Fayetteville, TN for a small town Saturday shopping stroll.

You can park at one of the many places around the square or go to the lot behind Bumblebee Kid’s for easy square access.

But first, coffee.

We all know a great day can’t be started without a good cup of joe. Head over to Java Road located at 204 College St East in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

My bright and early order is a White Chocolate Mocha latte with avocado toast.

Depending on the time time of year, explore their seasonal offerings of Witches Brew in the Fall and Peppermint at Christmas.

Let’s stroll.

First stop, especially if you have littles, Bumblebee Baby and Kids. They have the cutest kid clothes for boy and girls! They even have shoes, toys, pajamas, and accessories. I love to dress my boys in smocks, long white socks, and cute Angel shoes and Bumblebee doesn’t disappoint on their options. Maybe you don’t have kids, but need a gift, you will have no issue finding the perfect gift for that little bundle of joy. Bumblebee Baby and Kids is located at 109 Main Ave S in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

Work your way to the right when you walk out the door and stop at the antique store, West Side Antiques

  • Have a little fun: Who can find the funkiest item in the store? What is it and why is it the funkiest?

Next up, crossover Market Street and head into what I call a western/boho girl’s dream, Whiskey Rose. Anytime I am in the store, I find the cutest styles that I can dress up or wear casually, all very eclectic

Venture next door to Norman Furniture. Maybe you don’t need anything but I love to window shop and look for inspiration. You might be surprised, you could find a piece of furniture you just can’t live without.

Ready for more antiques? Let’s hop into Flashback Antique Mall

  • Have a little fun: Find something inexpensive that you can repurpose or redecorate to fit your home, buy it, and go DIY

Cross the street and head back up toward Market Street. Once you turn onto the sidewalk, The Redbird should be on your right. You can check out the other antique stores if you really love vintage. However, you definitely shouldn’t miss the cutest book store up next! I wasn’t expecting to walk up on a good ole fashion bookstore but I what I really wasn’t expecting was a wall of candy that takes you back in time. Check out The Book Inn for your next read or just go in to enjoy how quaint it is. The cutest little lady was working when I ventured in! It just made my soul happy walking around and looking at the book collection available for purchase.

Next up: Mercantile on Market where you can find fun, odds and ends gifts, party supplies, even some candy

Now to my favorite stop on the stroll, Wilde Soul Boutique. Out of all of the clothing stores on the square, this one is definitely my style. The price points are friendly, the trends are current, but you can also find a great pair of jeans, statement pieces that never go out of style and items that can be worn multiple ways. Two of my favorite, most worn summer tops were from Wilde Soul.

Let’s backtrack and have lunch.

We went to Cahoots recently for the first time and really enjoyed it! They have something on their menu for everyone on the menu. It reminds me of mom and pop bar food but a homey environment. Complete with a beer menu, we will go back for more! Visit my Instagram highlights for what we tried on our first visit!

Picture Pit Stop: Visit the the Everywhere you Look UT sign and capture a shot under the Fayetteville sign on Market St as you head to Cahoots to document your travels

Back on the road.

Walk a bit over to Tigress for more high- end women’s clothes and don’t forget to check out Lawson’s Department Store for all of the men in your life. Licensed products and great brand names in both locations- true southern staples

On the corner between Tigress on one side and Lawson’s down from it on the other, stop into Elk Valley Nut and Candy. Truly a sweet stop!

After the candy store, Young Vintage was a happy place for my music loving heart. They had records of all kinds and I could look through those bins for days.

Finally, let’s end the stroll with one of the best stops, Kudzu’s Antiques and Home Décor. Need I say more?

Before you head off the square, if you are still are up for more shopping, here a few you could add to your list, but didn’t make mine for this round up but will definitely be on the list for the next one

  • Sissy’s Antiques & Interiors at 208 Main Ave S

  • Beautiful Me Boutique at 121 Market St

  • Fayetteville Florist at 131 Market St E

If you love a good drug store or find yourself in need of some Tylenol or a something, pop into Carter’s before you go.

OH and you can’t leave without ice cream from Honey’s Restaurant on Market St E. You can’t miss the big ice cream cone at the store front.

We aren’t done with our Fayetteville road trip yet:

  • Tips on The Lo: Fayetteville has been rumored to be one of the best Goodwill stores in the area. Hop on over for more vintage finds at a huge discount.

I hope you enjoyed the stroll. Thanks for shopping small and local. See you next Small Town Saturday.

There are a few seasonal/monthly favorites that can’t be missed. So if you can, try planning your trip around one of these:

  1. In the spring, there is a Fabulous 50's show hosted at NGA (Ninth Grade Academy). I am in my late 20s and have been going since my early 20s with my parents and late grandmother. I couldn’t love it more. It’s wholesome, funny, and I love singing along to the oldies!

  2. Every first Saturday of the month, it’s First Saturday around the square (in season), they have a farmer’s market and local vendors set up around the square. I have found that many of the stores participate with discounts and other great promos

  3. In the fall, be sure to visit Lyon Family Farms. I will cover it on Instagram at the beginning of fall but trust me, it can’t be beat!! It’s a little pricey for a family but there is so much to do. You could easily spend a full day there!

  4. At Christmas, a Host of Christmas Past is a must do. It is scheduled for November 10th and 11th, 2023. A Host of Christmas Past has Santa, vendors, the stores participate and family activities.

Travel Tip: If you can or in the area, pair up with Lynchburg and make a weekend out of it 😊
