Hunka hunka burnin’ love, bright lights, the ultimate what happens here stays here destination,
buffets, slot machines, & burlesque galore. Get married in a chapel by Elvis (an impersonator of
course), see an epic concert by one of the many residencies, lounge by the pool or at a pool
party, wear your sparkles to a fancy dinner, spend the day at a spa, or drive to one of the most
epic views in the world, there isn’t a dull moment on what lies ahead. Don’t worry, even if you
don’t gamble or only like to dabble in the gambling game, there is still plenty to do outside of the
casinos! This trip has us leaving those kiddos at home so we can unwind for some adult
fun—let’s go to Sin City—Vegas Baby!!
Day One: Arrive in Vegas
My recommendation is to always arrive on a Thursday so you can make the most of a long
weekend in Vegas. You could also arrive on Friday and leave Monday- same vacation day
request (1-2 days depending on time, but save a little money by not flying in on the busiest
travel day). Be sure to wear a comfy outfit and take a good nap on the plane, because we have
a night full of fun!
Arrival
If you fly in, be sure to hit a slot machine right as you get off the plane, especially
if this is your first time! There is some truth to beginner’s luck. Let’s be honest, where
else can you gamble in an airport!! Literally the second you step off the plane, you figure
out quickly Dorothy isn’t in Kansas anymore. It’s a whole experience!
Uber or Taxi. Taxis now have fixed rates for the most part, so there isn’t so much of an uncontrollable cost anymore
TIPS ON THE LO: Schedule Uber in advance so it is there and ready!
Check into the hotel and settle in
Pool Time
If it is summer, I highly recommend changing into a bathing suit immediately
and spending some time relaxing (with a great drink in your hand, of course) by the pool
for awhile. Especially if the hotel has a roof top pool. You get incredible views of the city and a little mix of desert.
If it isn’t summer, I would enjoy a stroll down the strip, while wandering in the different
hotels along the way. The hotels themselves are incredible. Each one is uniquely
designed and is full of things to see, sweets to indulge in & of course, the best
shopping!
My favorite hotels to peruse & shop in:
The Venetian & The Palazzo (these connect)
The Wynn
The Wynn has the best displays!
Paris
The inside literally looks like you are walking under the night sky of Europe
The Bellagio
Catch the water show, I love it at night
Resorts World/Conrad
This is a newer hotel & full of cool places to shop
Caesars Palace
I don’t recommend staying here because I think it was lackluster. They have updated some but the large majority still needs it. But there are many movies that have been filmed here, so I think it is an iconic stop on the strip.
The Linq
This stop is an experience. It is known as the Linq Promenade & is home to open air shopping, dining, bars, & of course the High Roller.
If it is summer, add this to your to do list after the pool & before or after dinner
Shop along the strip
Add in a little shopping while you are walking the strip. I love to walk the strip at night, but to ensure all of the stores are open, I would go to some before dinner, then grab dinner, & finish after, if you do it in the late afternoon.
There are tons of stand alone stores in addition to the stores within the hotels
Be sure to also visit Planet Hollywood for the Miracle Mile Shops
PICTURE PIT STOP: There are several photo ops in the hotels. The hot spots are the
displays they set up, like my picture in front of the Carousel at The Wynn or The LOVE
sign at The Venetian.
Grab Dinner
Las Vegas has some of the very best places to eat in the United States in my opinion. I like the dining experience here better than in New York & while I am not a foody, I love everything about New York, so that is saying something here.
Visit the High Roller
550 feet over the center of the Sin City strip, you can enjoy a Ferris wheel ride, that doubles as a bar! The ride takes about 30 minutes for a full rotation. There is a Happy Half Hour option that you choose for the open bar. You can fill it with up to 25 people, & of course, you must be 21+.
Need help booking, consider booking a Hey Lo, Let’s Go package for stress for planning,,, it’s really no hassle!
Gamble the night away!
TIPS ON THE LO: Set a gambling budget for each day. If you plan to gamble day and night, be sure to set a budget for both. This ensures that you do not spend more money than you intend to.
Day 2: Adventure City
Breakfast
I highly recommend Peppermill Las Vegas. While you can eat there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we really enjoyed the atmosphere for breakfast & bloody mary’s.
Head to Hoover Dam
I highly recommend renting a car & taking a quick drive to Hoover Dam. It is a little outside of the city, but it allows you to see local Las Vegas & experience one of the coolest places in the United States. You can tour the facility or just drive out, walk around & look at it. Your drive time is about 40 minutes each way. The Dam is open daily, including weekends from 5am-9pm. The last tour departs at 3:45pm.
Options for tours include a Guided Dam Tour and/or a Guided Power Plant Tour
The Dam Tour only allows ticket purchases on site
The Power Plant Tour is $15 & you can purchase them here.
Lunch
I highly recommend In & Out. No matter how many times you have been, it never gets old.
GO LIKE LO: Get your fries animal style!
Flex Time
Pool Time, gamble, shop til you drop or explore things you haven’t seen, the options are endless.
Explore more flex options here.
Dinner
GO LIKE LO: Dine at Catch in Hotel Aria
PICTURE PIT STOP: The flower wall when at the Catch's entrance
See a show or concert
My top recommendations:
Nightlife
Gamble or if you love a party, they have some of the best night clubs...Just be safe! 😊
Day 3: Grand Canyon
Breakfast
Head out to the Grand Canyon
For the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam, you can take tours that take you to and from both places, with documented times, but it’s cheaper to rent your own car & go at your own free will. The drive is about 2.5 hours one way, so I would plan for your entire day to be outside of the city until night time.
Be sure to walk the skywalk! It’s a glass bridge stretched out over the Grand Canyon...INCREDIBLE! The Bridge is open 9am to 5pm and ticket prices start at $68. There is an option to bundle with even more sights and things to do, like white water rafting in the Colorado River. Information and tickets can be found here.
You can also eat lunch at the West Rim!
Head back to Vegas and Grab Dinner
Fremont Street
Explore the historic street! It was the home of the first casino!
TIPS ON THE LO: After checking out Fremont, be sure to gamble in their casinos, the buy in is much cheaper than those on the strip. The Golden Nugget is iconic!
Nightlife
Catch another show, gamble some more or head to the club!
Day 4: Final Hours
Have brunch!
Gamble
Play a round of casino games one last time.
Head out to the airport
Want to flex one of the events above or extend your trip? Also consider:
Starting 7 stories high and at $69
Observation Decks, Thrill Rides, and even Skydiving available
Ride the Big Apple Coaster
$39 for a ride through the Venetian hotel, on the water
Dining:
There definitely isn’t a shortage for dining options in Las Vegas. There isn’t enough space on this page for me to list every option, even if I leave off what I call the bad ones. A lot of the places are within the different hotels, giving you even more reason to check out each one! I am highlighting a few of my favorites & a few that the city is known for, whether they are found across multiple cities or just in Vegas. Whether you choose from my list below or find your own, you’ll be sure to eat good! I also recommend wandering around the different hotels and pick something that looks good depending on the time of the day you are there! It gives it a little adventure 😊
Breakfast:
Du-Par’s Restaurant and Bakery: Open 24 hours
Peppermill: Open 24 hours on the weekend
Bouchon at The Venetian: Inside the Venetian hotel
Griddlecakes: I haven’t been here, but it is now on my list after this research 😊
Lunch:
Mon Ami Gabi: A French Bistro Inside Paris Hotel
Gordon Ramsay’s Hells Kitchen: American Dining Inside Caesars Palace
Good Pie: Pizza
Tacos Al Gordo: Authentic Mexican
Lardo: BBQ and Sandwich Style Inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel
Proper Eats Food Hall: Something for everyone inside the Aria Hotel
Eataly: Italian Inside MGM Grand Hotel
Peppermill (Listed above) is also a lunch option
Dinner:
Catch: Seafood Option Inside the Aria
NoBu: Japanese Food Inside Caesars Palace
Capo’s Restaurant & Speakeasy: Italian
Emeril’s Delmonico Steakhouse: One of my favorites!!
Top of the World: American Food on 106th Floor of the Stratosphere Tower
Carson Kitchen: Variety of foods that change seasonally
Main St Provisions: Comfort Food
Yellowtail: Japanese Food Inside the Bellagio Hotel
Lodging
Similar to the dining situation, there are plenty of places to stay along the Vegas strip and even on the outskirts. While I recommend staying within the strip to get the true experience, don’t forget their AirBnB/VRBO options available for a much cheaper price. But in my opinion, the lodging options aren’t very expensive. The options I list below are a few of my favorites!
